Teak Oil Maintenance
Teak oil is a natural substance used to improve the appearance of wood, protect it from harmful effects, and preserve it.
-
Main components:
- Tung oil: This is the main component of teak oil. It is extracted from the fruit of the tung tree (Aleuritesfordii).
- Lanolin oil: Extracted from flaxseed oil.
- Seed oil: Sunflower oil.
- Beeswax: Used to improve color and shine.
- Antioxidants: such as vitamin (E), to prevent oxidation and improve stability.
-
Additional components:
- Preservatives: Phenoxylitol, to prevent the growth of bacteria and fungi.
- Biostabilizers: Zinc, to prevent the growth of fungi and bacteria.
- Adsorption aids: Sorbitol, to improve the adsorption of oil into wood.
- Colors and glosses: Pigments or metallic colors, to enhance color and appearance. (Upon request).
- Uses:
- It is used on all types of teak wood that have been planed and sanded for renovation work. (Floors/Shower Cabins/Fences/Pergolas/Boats/Launches)
-
It is used on any used hard or softwood that has been planed and sanded for refurbishment work and is used in outdoor wooden products (garden sets/pergolas/fences/cladding/boats/launchers).
-
How to use:
- The surfaces are thoroughly cleaned with an air blower to remove any dirt or impurities.
- The surface is painted with a soft brush or a plastic spray machine, wide-walled veneer, or rollers, and left to dry so that the wood can fully absorb the product (the rate of absorption depends on the dryness of the wood and the proportion of natural oils inside it).
- The painting process is repeated again after an hour to ensure that the wood has absorbed the first coat (whether oil or wax).
- It is recommended to use the polishing wax for the second coat of the same product to get a better result and complete sealing.
- The product is left to dry at each stage without wiping with any cloths to ensure the wood absorbs the oily or waxy substances.
- After 24 hours, wipe the surface with a clean, dry cloth if there is visible oil or wax on the surface.
